What are the key differences between IP65, IP66, and IP67 ratings for outdoor TVs
Latest company news about What are the key differences between IP65, IP66, and IP67 ratings for outdoor TVs

IP65 vs IP66 vs IP67 for Outdoor TVs
What the ratings mean
First digit = solids protection: 6 = dust‑tight(no ingress of dust).
Second digit = liquids protection:
5 = water jets from any direction
6 = powerful water jets from any direction
7 = temporary immersion(typically up to 1 m for 30 min)
These are defined by IEC 60529 / GB/T 4208and are about enclosure protection, not image quality or sunlight readability

Notes: All three are dust‑tight; the key difference is the water test. IP66 > IP65in water‑jet resistance; IP67adds short‑term immersioncapability. Ratings do not imply protection from UV, corrosion, or temperature beyond the product’s stated limits.
Outdoor TV selection guidance
For most residential/semi‑outdoor installs (covered patios, partial sun, normal rain), IP65is typically sufficient.
For fully exposed, high‑rain or high‑pressure washdown areas (e.g., pool decks, stadium concourses), choose IP66.
If you need tolerance to temporary submersion (e.g., near water features, flood‑prone sites), use IP67or higher.
In all cases, combine the IP rating with high brightness (often ≥1000–2000 nits for sunlight), UV‑resistant materials, proper sealing and drainage, and suitable operating temperaturefor reliable year‑round performance.
Important clarifications
IP ratings do not guarantee protection from high‑pressure, high‑temperature washdowns; for that, look at IP69K(a different, higher water‑jet standard).
IP67 does not mean the TV is “fully waterproof” for continuous immersion; IP68covers continuous immersion at manufacturer‑specified depths/times.
Ratings address ingress protection only; they do not replace the need for anti‑glare, anti‑UV, proper mounting, and thermal management
